5 Easy Tips to Improve Your SEO


Unfortunately, there’s no instant fix when attempting to push your website up the ranks in search results. There are a lot of moving parts influencing your rank on search websites like Google, Bing and Yahoo, but we have some quick and simple tips you can use to create a positive effect on your website’s search results.  

1. Optimise your page titles

When it comes to SEO, page titles are an important step in the right direction. Firstly, make sure all pages on your website have unique page titles that are relevant to that page, and add in other important information about your business, like what you sell or where you’re located.

2. Optimise your images

Avoid uploading large images to your website. Repeat; avoid uploading large images to your website. Large images decrease your page speed, and this negatively impacts your search results.

Ensure all images have been resized for web before uploading them to your website. You can also rename your image files with an image or brand description, for example, rather than ‘Image231.jpg’, rename the file to ‘april_ford_digital_marketing_services.jpg’.

3. Make your website mobile friendly

So many websites still aren’t mobile friendly. If you’re unsure where your website stacks up when viewed on mobile, do yourself a favour and check your website on a mobile.

Does it function well? Is it easy to navigate? Are the menus easily found? If not, you need to fix this NOW.

4. Update your website

Having fresh content on your website is a good reason for visitors to return, and it prompts search engines to crawl your website more regularly. Think of your website; is there any content you can update? A blog is a great way to add relevant information to your website regularly. Update your most visited pages and check back every 6-months for opportunities to update or refresh content.

5. Keywords

Your content must hit the mark when it comes to keywords. Use Google Keyword Planner to find the key words people are searching for. Once you have a list of words and phrases, optimise your text by inserting the keywords and phrases into your website’s content.
