May Wrap

Are you living the dream? I can confidently say that most days, the answer is yes. I get to work on the beautiful Sunshine Coast with a team of the kindest and smartest people I know and for a dream list of clients.

I’ve spent the last month doing six monthly catch-ups with each team member. As we have grown quickly, my role has turned into operations manager, which means I am here to support and guide the team to deliver results in any circumstance. I have used those catch-ups to see where I can help them, what they want to do, and what other resources they need to be the best versions of themselves.

So what have we implemented since our catch-ups?

  • Monthly team yoga to start in our new office

  • Styling and photography workshops with industry professionals

  • Discussion around future employment for new roles in the business

  • More collaboration among micro-teams for new clients

  • New technology: computers, lighting, and software

  • Better planning and measurement for job flow

  • Expansion of our team members’ roles

Team culture is the most important part of my role as a team leader. That focus flows onto the work we produce, the service we provide, and how we handle ourselves when issues arise. Outside of my personal experiences at the workplace, there are two resources I can share that have significantly impacted the way I lead. The first one is a book called The Dream Manager. The second is this interview with Oprah and Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn, called ‘Leading with Compassion’. If you’re looking for your next book or podcast, both are highly recommended.

WHAT HAPPENED THIS MONTH.

This month, our projects team have been hard at work delivering two new brands to the world: the Kotters and Stikki Lemonade. Their websites are currently in development, so stay tuned for more.

We are also excited for the launch of Costa Homes’s new home – excuse the pun – in the cloud. Check out their new website, custom built in Squarespace. I can personally recommend Costa Homes. We are building our home through them at the moment, and I can say it’s been one of the easiest experiences I have had.

We also welcomed the lovely Livi from Boston Shaker Bar. Be sure to visit her Art Deco–style cocktail bar at the Wharf Mooloolaba. It’s best described as an experience – with live music, cocktails made to perfection, and the mood to match. You won’t be disappointed.

Our real-estate clients were also kicking goals across the east coast of Australia, with Ercan Ersan from Ray White Erskineville inducted to the Ray White ‘Chairman Club’, which recognises the most successful agents in the country. Dan Sowden and the team at Ray White Maroochydore were also recognised as a premier business leader in the top 30 per cent of the Ray White Group. Also, our friends at Prudential Real Estate launched their new website, and the principal of Prudential Real Estate Liverpool opened another office in Carnes Hill.

This month also saw Evolution Early Learning launch their new winter menu, CPAP Direct continue their ‘Travelling With CPAP’ seminars after a successful online campaign, and Hello Harry launch a partnership with Headspace Australia, contributing $1 for every Hot91 burger sold across the country until December.

All in all, it was another crazy month. We survived the election and the public holidays and look forward to what we have planned in the next few months.

Until next month,

April Ford.
