Meet the Team - Sharna Colebourne – Graphic Designer

After many years spent sharpening her design skills working for publishing houses, creative agencies, one of Australia's largest integrated media companies, and the world's largest home furnishing brand, you could say Sharna Colebourne has developed a vast spectrum of experience. That's exactly what made her the perfect fit for the April Ford team.

When Sharna isn't developing the April Ford brand, she's going the extra mile for our clients to take their design and marketing beyond their original expectations, because no matter whether the job is large or small, the passion and experience Sharna injects into every task makes her a force to be reckoned with.

Constantly on top of her design game, you'll find Sharna knocking out awesome layouts, websites, and design work to be admired and marvelled at. Whilst she'll never admit it, she's an absolute expert in her field, and a hugely important piece of the April Ford puzzle.

Sharna is driven by the fast-paced environment of the design world and thrives on juggling multiple projects at any one time. When she isn't sitting face-to-screen with a computer, she'll likely be donning a tool belt and getting her hands dirty as she renovates her Sunshine Coast home - "After all, life's too short to be bored" - Sharna.

Now, let's learn a little more about Sharna.

What's your favourite thing about working at April Ford?

As cliché as it sounds, I really love what I do! I enjoy the creative freedom I have with my work. I'm constantly thinking outside the box and pitching fresh and innovative ideas to our clients. Every day is different and I’m so lucky I have the ability to work with a variety of different clients. We work in an open office here at April Ford, so I enjoy the feedback from such a creative team. Oh, and how could I forget, I love cake day on Thursday’s! 🧁

How do you keep the creative juices flowing outside of April Ford?

The world of graphic design is always evolving and it’s important for me to stay on top of the latest trends and styles - I believe it creates the difference between good design and great design. I love learning about the latest features within the Creative Cloud; they constantly keep me on my toes whilst teaching me new ways to design and create.

Life’s too short to be bored.

What’s the hardest part about what you do?

That’s a hard question, because words really aren't my thing! These questions are hard - can I just draw pretty pictures instead? 🤭

Do you have a favourite font?

Gilmer is my font crush at the moment - nothing beats a clean sans serif font!

What’s your favourite Pantone colour?

Black is a colour, right? Pantone Black C is my all-time favourite. 🖤

Where do you see graphic design heading in the future?

Graphic design is an extremely important facet of business, and business owners are increasingly starting to realise the impact of creating impressive marketing materials to present their products and services to the world. As the business environment becomes super competitive, it's more important than ever to ensure your brand is unique and stands out from the competition. I believe digital media is rapidly becoming the future of graphic design.
